SPORTS TALK: Texas A&M Aggies

Aggies...why you mad son?! lol...UT pissed them off for real! Well today the Aggies announced that they plan to leave the BIG 12 by July 2012 if they are offered acceptance into another conference. This will be interesting...

The Aggies don't appreciate University of Texas getting its own network (amongst other things) but I bet if they had the same opportunity, they would do the same! Anyway, the Big 12 has formed a committee to look for replacements. The BIG 12 has already been cut down to 10 teams with the departure of Nebraska (Big Ten) and Colorado (Pac 12) so it will be interesting to see how the conference reacts with filling the spots. BUT, I didn't know there was an "EXIT FEE" to leave a conference! There's a fee for everything! lol...If the Aggies leave Big 12 they will likely pay a very expensive fee...Nebraska paid $9.25 million and Colorado paid $6.9 million. That's some crazy loot!

A move to the SEC will definitely give Texas A&M more exposure and funding but the competition will be TOUGH. Regardless of where they end up, I hope it doesn't back fire on them. The SEC previously said it was cool with its current membership but left the door open to expansion. The Aggies would need the votes of nine of the 12 presidents from the member schools for the SEC to allow them into the league.

This move by the Aggies could set up the University of Houston to join the Big 12. U of H isn't a powerhouse but the move will help them gain notoriety and possibly a better recruiting class. It will definitely take them a while to be able to compete at the higher level of the Big 12 but it is possible.

I'm eager to see how this all turns out! The Saga Continues...
